Confident Communications

Effectively communicating about your business to multiple audiences

Event Info

Owning a small business requires skilled communication. Whether you are presenting your ideas to funders, reaching out to customers, or participating in networking calls, it is becoming increasingly important to have confidence in your communication and presentation skills.

Raelynn Douglas, a recent graduate of the BCGW's Starter Plus Program, had a long career in the Ministry of Finance and in the Ontario healthcare system. Giving presentations and speaking publicly was part of her job, but she always felt stressed, even speaking up in meetings created anxiety. When she was preparing to launch her management consulting business, she knew she had to conquer her fear so she could speak about her unique value proposition and promote her new small business.

A local Toastmasters Club presented to the Starter Plus program in Nov 2020, and Raelynn immediately saw the value it could bring to her at a pivotal point in her entrepreneurial journey. She is excited to share insights, lessons learned and tips for effective communications, that you can employ immediately in your small business.

She will also share information about Toastmasters, what it can offer to you as a small business owner, going above and beyond what you may think Toastmasters has to offer. It’s no longer just about preparing to give a speech at an event. It offers an extensive platform to build effective communication, leadership, and meeting management skills that can offer real opportunities for growth in your career and could be a ‘game changer’ for your small business.
