The Department of Business (DOB) provides 3rd and 4th year students with the opportunity to further their understanding of business concepts and gain up to 1.0 academic credits through applied, faculty-supervised learning experiences. Students interested in pursuing any of the following should contact the appropriate faculty member.
Entrepreneurship I and II
1. The Department of Business (DOB), in collaboration with the Guelph-Wellington Business Enterprise Centre (GWBEC), is pleased to provide up to 20 students interested in developing and running a new business with the opportunity to participate in a series of modules, run by the GWBEC at their downtown location, leading to the development of a business plan. During the winter, students will have access to advisors and resources of the GWBEC and the opportunity to work alongside others from the local community interested in starting their own businesses, while being supervised by a University of Guelph Faculty member.
2. Students successfully completing Entrepreneurship I are eligible to apply for Entrepreneurship II. Students in this course launch their business in the spring semester, with the support of a GWBEC advisor and a University of Guelph faculty member. Students wishing to start their business in the Guelph Wellington area may be eligible to compete for one of eight grants of $3,000, provided through the Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation.
