A life -long dream of running her own business was realized for Laurie Clarke, with the opening of her online store Who Loves Kitty? After obtaining her Masters of Library Science, Laurie spent several years working in management in the public library environment, for a library software vendor and for a library book wholesaler. Eventually she decided it was time for a change and returned to pursuing her dream of operating her own business. With the assistance of the Self Employment Benefit Program through the Guelph-Wellington Business Enterprise Centre, which included excellent training and advice, Laurie's website www.wholoveskitty.ca went live in May 2008. The website features unique cat themed merchandise for cat lovers including whimsical jewellery, one-of-a-kind art pieces, books, stationery and even custom cat portraits created from photographs. Laurie will ship merchandise worldwide. To date, the "furthest" inquiry came from Hong Kong, and the "furthest order" came from Las Vegas. In addition to retail sales, the website also provides book reviews, news and information about cats, and often receives questions about cats. The goal for the website is to create a one stop site for cat people! Laurie is doing very well with her business, loves what she does and is grateful to the Centre for all their training and support.
